Smart Media, Card Error

I know there has been a lot of queries regarding SM cards and 'card error', but I would like some help, please.
I contacted Fuji regarding my 'card error' problem and they've been very helpful.
They suggest I reformat the card using 'low level FAT16'
Trouble is, I'm running XP Home, which is geared up to FAT32, and I can't find a way to format a card using low level FAT16.
Can this be done in XP home?
If so, I'd be grateful for advice on how to do it.
Otherwise, I've a 64mb hard disk for storage - but not for camera use!!
PS: I've tried to format the card using the camera option, with no luck.

Regards, Terry

When you go to format via My Computer do you not get the option for 16 or 32 in the drop down box.
I do this on a daily basis for my Canon camera using XP Pro.

Tristar, did you get your problem with the SM card sorted out? I have the same problem as you and am unable to re-format. I try like you to re-format in Windows XP but I only have the FAT 32 option. My card is a 128MB card and I can only use it at the moment as a flash drive and not in the Fuji camera. I would be grateful for any remedy that you found.
