I was told that to fix a problem with my cd drive i should take it out and then boot up, then turn off and reconnect it. This failed to work, but in the process i was told about a S.M.A.R.T capable but disabled, so does anyone think that enabling this will help? the original problem can be found on this forum by me also.

see here click here for a useful link provided by Rtus. As you can see, this won't help you with your CD drive problem. If you go back to your original post and reply to it......just type 'refresh', then that will bump it back to the top of the list and I am sure someone will be able to give you some useful suggestions.
