hi all
my mate only has a 8gb hardrive and a 250gb external,as his c drive is filling up to quick, can he start his computer from the external one?
and how?

Unlikely as computer is probably old to only be fitted with an 8G HDD.

Check in BIOS if booting from a USB source is capable. Most likely options will be something like A, C, CDrom

Why not leave the OS on the 8gig HD and move the other stuff to the external HD?? Should be nothing wrong with that and would leave the OS unclutteed to get on with its job.

What motherboard is your friend using.

As Fruit Bat /\0/\ says it just may have the option to boot from an external usb device.

One of my XP computers with a 4.3Gb hard drive has this facility.;-)
