slow startup after sp2

i am running windows xp home and after i installed sp2, i have noticed that it was slower to log into my user name. any ideas why

Depends on how much it's added to your boot up time. Mine as gone from 29 to 34 seconds which is not a long time but quite a big percentage considering.

I think it has something to do with the loading of the firewall and antivirus settings, SP2 is, [I think], loading these settings during the boot up rather than waiting until you reach a working desktop then loading them.

well, i used to be able to get on in 15 secons. This increasedf dramatoically with Norton Internet Security which I expected. It reached about 28 seconds. It now takes about fifteen seconds to load the startup screen, and a further 10-12 seconds to login. I have noticed this only happens to the first user to login though.
