Slow printing in DOS program using Print Screen

Hi everyone,

I am doing some research for a client who has an OKIPAGE 14ex printer. It performs excellently from within windows and very well from a "print report" page within a bespoke DOS application (which runs emulated in Win98). When the user presses the Print Screen key in this DOS application (as is required to print details of a transaction) the printer eventually prints the screen (text only) but takes many minutes to do so.

Anyone got any ideas?

From the DOS prompt try: copy (filename) lpt1 (enter) and see if that is any quicker. Make sure there are spaces between copy and the filename and lpt1.

Apparently some programs in DOS do not send an "end of page" command and so time out after a certain pre-set time. You can adjust this time in the printer settings. Changing it from 300 seconds to 5 seconds solved the problem.
