Hi all, I'm currently on 1.5mb BB from NTL in Runcorn (Cheshire) (thats the baguley server I think), however, over the past 24 hours my connection has gone really slow. Feels more like fast dial up! Anyway, is anybody else experiencing problems? Or are NTL not letting on that there will be degraded service - their server status page says all is good at the moment.

Try this for NTL click here I'm on 300k and the results are fine.

1st 128K took 3633 ms = 36078 Bytes/sec = approx 300 kbits/sec

2nd 128K took 3665 ms = 35763 Bytes/sec = approx 298 kbits/sec

3rd 128K took 3634 ms = 36068 Bytes/sec = approx 300 kbits/sec

woodchip - Yeah, Im on cable. 512mb, is that combine upload/download, ratioed or what. Didn't know ntl or BT had that kind of speed! or is that a typo and supposed to be 512kb??

octal, i ran that test and the results are:

Mon, 25 Jul 2005 21:56:55 GMT
1st 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 532 ms = 246376 Bytes/sec = approx 2050 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 531 ms = 246840 Bytes/sec = approx 2054 kbits/sec

I have ran it in Firefox and IE with the cache clear (Incidently clearing the cache does not speed things up)

  woodchip 23:10 25 Jul 05

No as above on NTL/BT phone line connection

  woodchip 23:11 25 Jul 05

The above are download speeds as it does not seem to give upload. Or I did not look

  woodchip 23:26 25 Jul 05

That looks more like a 2Mb service to me

I'm sure its 1.5 mb! oopss, whatever the £24.99 service is thesedays! But I really want some 512mb!!

I've ran though all the motions of clearing cache and running disk-cleanup/defrag etc several times now and still no speed increase. I'm going to leave my modem and network gear off for the night, and see if its any better in the morning, if not I'll ring tech support.

note: I've already tried with all my network disconnected, still no luck!
