Slow to non-loading of search engines!

  Rikardos 20:23 07 Oct 03

I can't imagine what is causing it, but for some reason over the past week my computer is refusing to load google, yahoo, altavista and some other search engines though and msnsearch just seem to work fine and dandy (which is not the way around I want it as they are awful). The web pages say they are connecting but then time out and pressing wait doesn't do any difference. I've ran Spy Sweeper and Avast! on full sweep and haven't found any spyware or viruses in there at all.

It is also happening with my course web page as well, which is extremely annoying as I need it to do my online course!

Specs: 1GB DDR3200 memory
2800 athlon processor
Telewest Broadband Internet
120GB SerialATA Hard drive
9700pro graphics card

If anyone has any ideas I would be most appreciative as it is driving me nuts!

Alternatively it might be a more innocent hosts file.

Do a search for a file called HOSTS (no file extension) and if found, rename it to HOSTS.OLD

Try again.
