Try using ipconfig flushdns.

•Click the Start Orb

•Now click All Programs

•Then Accessories

•Then Command Prompt

•Right-click on it and ‘Run As Administrator’

•Type the following and hit Enter:

•ipconfig /flushdns

•After a few moment you should be able to see a confirmation window:

•Windows IP Configuration. Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
If it flushes the dns reboot the computer and see if it is any better.

Run a Defrag.

Try this free program.

Are you running Kaspersky 2010? If so you are amongst many others who are suffering similar problems that Kaspersky are working on but not yet fixed. W7 is also affected, as is XP.

See Kaspersky Forum for discussion. click here (Mid thread)

I have gone back to KIS 2009 and IE performance is much better until 2010 is fixed.

Latest post in that Kaspersky thread states problem resolved and it has been closed. However list of problems fixed by "Patch A" doesn't seem to fit entirely with all the problems being reported. If on Kaspersky 2010 v736 try update and see if it resolves your issue.
