Also would getting more ram for it make it any faster. When i say the computer ios slow i mean, slow to boot up and also when you open a program it takes a while to think and then load the program, if you have more than one window open it just..... well its slow!!! Any help would be much appreciated. thanks a lot. John.

What OS have you got with only 192 M of RAM?
Do as VoG says and pile it in.

Adding more ram is certainly the first step.

While you wait for the ram to be delivered, have you considered a little bit of house keeping to the computer.

Run ccleaner to clear out the rubbish click here

Defrag your harddrive also.

Remove any unwanted programs from add and remove programs and run ccleaner.

Reduce your startup programs using MSCONFIG,leave just your antivirus and any antispyware programs running from startup.

Start / run and type " MSCONFIG " without the quotes and select startup.
Now untick everything except antivirus and any realtime antispyware scanner.
