Slow Bootup in W2K

  Bernard2 15:42 20 Jun 04

I have a standalone computer running W2K. Just recently on booting up it has started to hold on the message "preparing network connections" for some 95 seconds. True, just a grain of sand in the desert of time but frustrating all the same. Have any of you experts out there got any suggestions to speed this up please?

When you say 'stand alone' I take it you mean not connected to the internet? I had the same problem at work the other day with a stand alone computer, I had to go into Device Manager and disable the network card, might be worth a try.

Valvegrid, standalone refers to a machine thats not networked.

Many thanks for such speedy replies. I meant by "standalone" that it is not networked to another machine. I have tried the solution suggested by Microsoft (thanks VoG) but the Registry setting (3) is correct.
