Recently i bought a new computer with an sli motherboard and the time has come to add that second card however there is one problem. I read somewhere that you should only put in two cards that are identical and were bought at the exact same time because even if you buy the same 2 cards of the same manufacturer a difference of even only a couple of weeks between buying them will mean they have slight differences because of manufacturing techniques.
Is this true do i really need to buy 2 at once or can i just buy the same card of the same manufacturer.
It kind of makes SLI pointless if you have to by both at the same time.

2 of the same card from the same manufacturer.

"building an SLI-capable system with a single graphics card now, users give themselves the option of adding a second card later for nearly two times the rendering power."
