I have a drive with XP O/S on it. which I do not want.
I want to make this a slave drive. When I connect it (Cable select) The naster drive will not boot. (could not even get it to boot in safe mode)
I cannot format the slave drive obviously,as when it is connected I cannot boot into the master drive. Can anyone help me please. There must be somethjing I am not doing. Thanks. J

Try it two other ways,
1, set the jumpers to Slave
2, use no jumpers at all
Some makes of hdd do not want jumpers to set them as slave.

Thank you so very muchfor your help.. I did as you suggested. Set the jumpers to slave and all is well. I mistakenly thought that the jumpers were not relevant, when it was cable select.
Thank you again. J
