Simple website building

Hi, I've had my own domain with 1&1 for many years and now want to add a simple, personal website. The 1&1 in-house web builder is horrible to use (driving me nuts)and I need help in choosing what software to use in building a decent website from scratch. Content will primarily be a blog, photographs, cookery and genealogy. I have no idea about coding, don't need animations, and would prefer a simple drag and drop approach if possible. It also has to be uploadable to 1&1 for them to host. Recommendations as to what I should go for will be very welcome. Thank you.

I use Serif WebPlus with 1&1. No problems with uploading the site.
