simple file sharing xp

  iqs 15:30 06 Feb 10

Have been trying to enable simple file sharing on my netbook running XP Home.
The option to enable via tolls folder options is not listed to enable.

I have created a folder in my documents, which has been set to share on my network, but none of the other PC's will see this folder.
I have disabled the firewall, still the same.
Any ideas please

The option to enable "Simple File Sharing" is *ONLY* available in XP Professional.

XP Home Edition does use Simple File Sharing.

In the computer with which you're trying to access the "shared" folder, try typing the path to it directly into the address bar using the format:

If using a third-party firewall, such as Zone Alarm, this should be configured to allow access to the networked computers; disabling a firewall isn't always effective, as there can still be background processes running.

Thank you all for the advice and links.
Problem was down to a firewall issues. The firewall was disabled, but was still running???.Uninstalled then reinstalled, and was then able to establish the connections.
Many thanks again,cheers
