Simple Broadband Question

Could somebody please explain the difference between "Down load speed" and "Bandwidth" and their relationship?
Thank you.

Your bandwidth or syncspeed is what is leaving the exchange and heading in your direction.

Your download speed is what you are actually getting when it arrives allowing for deterioration due to distance from the exchange, quality of the physical connection between the two, interference from other sources to name but three factors.

If you are very close to the exchange you may well get most of your bandwidth as download.

Very generally speaking 75% to 85% is seen as acceptable.
