There's a sidebar that's suddenly appeared on the left of my desktop. It has things like 'Folder tasks', 'Other places' & 'Details' listed in it as if the desktop has suddenly become a folder. I don't know how it got there or how to remove it. I can't delete anything from my desktop either. I'm running Win XP Home. Can anyone help?

I just need to remove the sidebar if anyone knows how.

Go to Kelly's Korner click here and scroll down to 15. Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop. Save the file and run it to merge it with the Registry. You can open the file in Notepad if you want to see what it does in advance.

Thanks Eric10. It worked perfectly.
