Tried to download gadets for sidebar but will not appear

Can you explain a bit more please, do you mean that the gadgets you downloaded are not there or the sidebar doesn't appear, or that the gadgets you downloaded will not appear on the side bar?

PS and OS

If the computer runs the sidebar, it must be Vista, mustn't it?

Sorry should have explained better. I wish to add more gadgets to side bar. Downloaded some from internet but when I get to the stage of download where I save or open, when I choose either, screen just flickers and nothing happens

So does Windows 7

Google desktop gets you gadgets and a sidebar also :¬)

Cheers HC

Thanks for that information. From what I've read I formed the impression (wrongly - obviously) that W7 had done away with the sidebar, and just placed gadgets on the general desktop.

I don't know what website(s) you're trying to download gadgets from, but could it be that your firewall is preventing the downloads?

If you right click on any one of the gadgets that you have installed and then click on Add Gadgets it should take you to the Windows Gadget page and show you what Gadgets you have available. Are your new gadgets that you have downloaded there? If so double click on them and they will be added to the Sidebar.

think it has been solved. It may have been firewall.
