Shutting down XP takes a long time

Please can anyone help me. Everytime I shutdown my Windows XP Pro, it takes literally 2-3 minutes. My machine runs on P4 1.6GHz with 512MB RAM.

I have another machine that also runs on Windows XP Pro, but only is a PIII 800MHz with 256MB RAM. This one shuts down in less that a minute. Why is that?

Have a look here click here

Scroll down page until you get to "Shutdown Works, But it's REAL slow"

You could check that you have fast user switching enabled. Go to Control Panel>User Accounts > click on change the way you log on or off and note if the box for enable fast user switching is checked. If not do so then go to Control Panel > Admin Tools >
Services. In Services scroll down to fast user switching. Double click this line. There are three
options. Automatic. Manual and Disabled. Set this to Automatic. See if it makes any difference to the time it takes you to shutdown.

.....and don't forget to click on "apply" if you change anything. Sorry forgot to mention that.
