Hello.
Just a small query. The "It is now safe to shut your computer down" is suddenly missing.I know it is not essential, but I would like it back.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

You haven't said which OS you're using, two oaks, but it sounds like Win95 or 98. That shutdown file is called either Logos.sys or Logow.sys, I can't remember which, it's been a while. Do a search of your hard drive see if you can find it. But why are you still shutting down that way, two oaks? If you go to Control Panel > Power Options > APM tab and tick "Enable advanced power management support", click Apply and OK, the computer will shut itself off completely without you having to press the off button. That is if your motherboard supports that option.

It is LOGOS.SYS and you can download it (and the others) click here

The files belong in your root folder (normally that will be C:\).

I thought it was Logow.sys that was the "It is safe to...." screen, that's why I didn't commit myself. :-)))
