When trying to shutdown I get to the point where the screen fades but my comp will not shut down. In fact I've reached the point where I can only close by re-starting and waiting for scandisk to do I'ts thing, after which I can close, with the notice on screen "It is now safe to turn off your computer" Any help with this matter would be much appreciated Thanks, Hecate. Win Millennium. ASUS A7NX8-X Mobo.Athlon.AMD 2400+Processor.Radeon9200SE AGP.

There is a microsoft download that delays the shutdown slightly, If you scan for updates at the microsoft website it is listed in the recommended updates list. I have installed it and it has cured my shutdown problems.
