Shutdown problem

when i shutdown my windows xp the computer does not turn off. (It restarts rather than turns off)
Can anyone help please.

hspurs, suggest you type "shutdown problems xp" into Google. You will get 26,200 hits.

Unfortunately shutting down is caused by so many thing on all Microsoft Operating Systems that finding the solution can be VERY difficult and time consuming. Trial and error I'm afraid. No quick answer or easy "cure all" solution.

Many thanks Stokey solved problem in 5 minutes on goggle. my easy cd creator needed a xp upgrade.(belive it or not thats what cause my computer to restart all the time)

I wished that it was as easy as a Google search for me. Last resort for me is to properly reinstall Windows XP, AGAIN!
