Shutdown hangs - erratically

  garrema 00:14 18 Oct 05

After a busy day of general us and perhaps soom game play the PC will hang when switched off. It freezes at the "windows is shutting down" screen and to get around this I will reset and boot up again at which point I can correctly shut the machine down.
I have tried waiting 20mins so it does not appear to be time related.
Any thoughts?
Using Win XP

Or type eventvwr.msc into your Run dialogue box, look through the Application and System lists at around the time your PC failed to shut down, look for yellow or red warnings.

Its something to do with the clock
"W32 time" where the PC clock can not syncronise.
Its an intermitent issue.
Thanks for your help Splork.
