Last night when I tried to shut down my computer through the start menu as normal, it refused to shut down. after trying two or three times I gave up and shut down with the power switch on my PC.
This morning everything is back to normal. I have looked in Microsoft support, but there doesn't seem to be anything there appertaining to my problem.
Why would this happen, and why just once?
OS XP Home service pack 2.

Likely some process that was not closing properly... who knows why?

Take a look in the event viewer and you may find something. Given that it was a once off, ignore it.

"Take a look in the event viewer and you may find something"

Where do I find that?
