Shut down -not logging off -saving settings now

Can anyone help please. Recently when I shutdown Windows does not say logging off-saving your settings anymore it just goes to the windows XP screen, hangs for a while and then shuts down.

I have xp smoker installed and have changed some settings in it but cannot see that any of them would have caused this problem

Thank you if you can help me

Try 'Resetting all setting to Default' option and see if that stops your problem. If it does then you can re-set xp smoker but try what you have set one setting at a time.
