Shortcut to Recycle Bin appeared on Task Bar

Using XP Home

Seem to have a shortcut to the 'bin on the task bar, appeared "out of nowhere"

I don't want it. How can I get rid of it?!

Can you not just right click on it and select "Delete" from the menu?

Tried that, as first it came up with a shortcut to Control Panel - right clicked, and deleted. Then "My Netwrok Places" - ditto

But the Recycle Bin on the task bar has no "delete" option..........

"Drag and drop the icon in the ..... WAIT FOR IT ..... Recycle Bin"

Didn't work I'm afraid, but like the look of the repair tool, Rawprawn

Please confirm it is the Taskbar and not the Notification area, where the clock is.

  rawprawn 09:45 21 Aug 06

The repair tool should be able to repair either taskbar, notification area, or quicklaunch. So I'm a bit stuck.

If it's in the Notification area, it is easily hidden.

There is always System Restore to fall back on.
