Shortcut problems

Since a recent format and re-instal of XP pro, I have a problem with the shortcuts I place on the desktop for my CD writer, DVD player and now my Iomiga Zip Drive.

I am told that the shortcut refers to a temp file presumably to do with my ADSL modem.

I created them from "My Computer" folder where they all work fine, just the shortcuts don't refer back to the correct item.

Puzzled and confused.

why not try right clicking my computer and sent to desktop create shortcut.

drag this icon off the screen to create a handy toolbar.set it then to auto hide.

You lost me there huggyg71, can't see the reasoning behind doing that, as My Computer icon is already on the desktop and there is no problem with it, it is the other shortcuts from it.

drag the my computer icon off to the side of the screen.you will now have a toolbar called my computer with shortcuts to disk drives and floppy, control panel etc.

then delete the original my computer shoutcut.

i find it useful anyway.
