Shockwave install problem

  Sparky3327 19:27 25 Aug 08

My XP-run PC wouldn't run Adobe Shockwave Player so I thought I'd better uninstall and start again.
I went through the recommended steps and went to install it again, but my PC just won't have it.
There's just no response from the download site, and a small red x where the Install button should be.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick reply reply rdave, but it's still not happening.
Followed instructions to the letter, but everything is the same as it was.
Still an annoying red x where the Install button should be!

Uninstall flash player; click here .Make sure all browsers closed when uninstalling.
Re-install Flash player; click here . Remember to untick Google toolbar if not required.

Just install 'over the top'.

I really thought I'd done it, rdave, but no.
Same old, same old I'm afraid.
It installed ok, but applications requiring shockwave won't run. That x just appears where the game should be.

Try this Adobe site to test Flash and Shockwave players; click here

Have you got Norton installed?
I recently came across the same thing and it turned out Norton was blocking it.
Luckily Norton was out of date so I removed it completely and installed new antivirus/firewall,shockwave worked straight away.
Hope this helps,

rdave, tried the test and it's not working. Does that mean it didn't install properly or something's stopping it from running correctly?

baldydave, not got Norton, got Mcafee and all seems ok.
