Sharing printer on home wireless network

Wireless home network connects XP SP2 pc (connected directly to internet) to Vista Basic notebook. I can see the pc files from the notebook and vice versa. The printer, which is connected to the pc,appears in the list of printers on the Notebook's control panel. However, I can not print from the Vista.

I have 2 XP machines with printers attached (1 Epson and 1 HP) on my network my Vista home basic laptop see's both in control panel but will only print to HP one will do test page on Epson (after waiting ages) but that is all.

My situation is that the client Vista notebook says the printer on the host XP pc is "off line" while the host pc recognizes the printer as being "on line". I can even view from the notebook the properties of the printer but I can't print
