Sharing PC's

I have a desktop PC with a Linksys Wireless g router connected by ethernet cable, and now have a laptop connected to the net via a USB wireless dongle. I have a Linksys wireless G PCI card, this was set up in another computer and removed. I would like to put it into my Desktop and share files etc with the laptop.
Do I have to reset it up on this desktop?
Will I need the ethernet cable to remain connected?
Once that is all up and running is sharing files etc easy to do??
Do I need to install the printer on the laptop as well as the desktop?

Yes. Modem needs to be rebooted. Then the router.
You do this by powering each device down and then restarting in turn when the lights come on.
Will I need the ethernet cable to remain connected?
Not if you want to run the desktop wirelessly - but I don't see why you would need to [run it wirelessly]. Wired is faster, more secure and more reliable for your desktop.

Filesharing is easy. Just run the wireless setup wizard. It will handle it.

Put the printer drivers on the laptop so you can use it through the network.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I asked about the ethernet cable as with the PCI card in it should pick up from the Router without the cable attached, but that is no problem, I will leave it connected, otherwise I have to store it somewhere.
There is no Modem it is all in one. I will have a go at it all in the morning. Thanks again.
