Sharing files without internet

Pretty new to wireless stuff - setup now up & running(mainly )OK. One question, probably a daft one, can I connect to other PC on network WITHOUT having internet connection - Router is combined Belkin modem, router. If I disconnect LAN in network connections to terminate modem connection then I'm no longer able to share files. Have I missed something obvious somewhere? Cheers

The whole point of Broad band is always connected does it matter when you are file shareing as long as you have wireless encryption and a firewall.

Yes, you can, but you would obviously not be able to disconnect the client from the internet connection at the client's end; you would have to switch off the internet connection in the router instead if you still want a LAN connection.
