Sharing broadband connection and networking.

I want to connect my laptop to my PC and broadband.I have Blueyonder via a Motorola SB4100 cable modem and both machines are running XP.At the moment I wish to use a wired connection (going for a wireless setup at a later date).

Could someone explain how I would go about this?

Also any recommendations for wireless equipment(Buffalo seem to have easy to set up routers, from what I have read).

Thanks Brian.

the pc that has the connection, go to control panel, network connections, right click on the internet connection and select sharing. tick the appropriate boxes, usually all of them and reboot the computers. Make sure the laptop has obtain an ip address automatically in the network settings. If you get a dns error on the laptop when trying to browse, just put ipconfig into a cmd prompt on the pc and make a note of the dns. Put these into the laptops network setting under tcpip/advanced.
