Sharing between XP and Vista PCs

  Spock1958 13:59 14 Oct 07

I have a wired network of 3 PCs. One PC uses Vista and the other 2 use XP. I have shared a number of folders on all computers, and have no problem accessing the files on either of the XP computer from the Vista one, nor is there any problem with the 2 XP computers accessing each others shared files. What I cannot do is access the files on the Vista computer from the 2 XP ones. I can see the shared folders but when trying to view them, get the message " not accessible. You may not have permission (etc)"

Any similar experiences/solutions.

It is not a firewall issue as I've tried with firewalls switched off.

I had been through that process a hundred times with no success, then suddenly after looking at it again, I spotted the obvious thing I had missed, which was not adding 'everyone' to the list. I had previously selected but not added 'everyone'.
