Sharing ADSL BB

A friend has just ordered ADSL BB and wants to share the connection with two computers in differeent rooms

I currently have BB (cable) which is shared with a laptop in another room with a simple crossover cable. This is fine for me, but my friend wants to be able to use either computer without turning the other one on. Is this possible?

I think it has something to do with a router. Is this right? Can someone explain to me how this could be done and what a router is for

I've got bb on 2 pc's. The router/modem was circa £100 with all cables. 1 x Iamx-64 adsl router, 2 x 5m ethernet cables. click here

Thanks for that link MichelleC. I still need to know how to set up the router etc for this purpose though (or will it be self explanitory?)

Any further comments? Thanks
