Hi,Still having a problem with using sfc /scannow.When the disc is requested,it asks for the XP PRO disc.I have XP Media Edition,so I tried this work around click here. But when I get to step 2 I cannot locate the source path entry. And ideas please.Because it asks for an XP PRO disc, can I use another XP PRO install disc to repair the OS,or must it be OD disc that was used for the install?.Cheers
You can use any XP Pro disc, so long as you use your own (valid) product key. This should be on a label on your machine.
thank you for the advice Pineman100 and VoG™.Cheers
You need to look in Windows\Service Pack files. The i386 is for all the Windows Updates Regedit should be changed to point to this Folder
Thank you woodchip
>> You can use any XP Pro disk, so long as you use your own (valid) product key. <<You don't need a product to run a system file check - only when you are installing the OS.
You don't need a product to run.....Sorry - should have been - You don't need a product key :@)
Thank you Sea Urchin, knew what you meant :-)
Hi,Have used an XP PRO disc, everything went OK,until it asked for the second XP PRO disc ?.Any ideas please
it asked for the second XP PRO disc! thats why I told you it needs it pointing to the i386 folder in regedit as its windows updates thats making it ask for another disc. Take note of the correct place to look for i386 folder in my above post
