Your "server" PC, the Internet Connection Sharing "Host" appears to have a network bridge set up, but I can't tell from the IPCONFiG listing which adapters are bridged. It should be the "Local Area Connection" and the "Wireless Network Connection" that are used to connect to the two "Client" computers.

However, there also appears to be a Wireless Adapter that isn't part of the bridge, which is set to get its IP address automatically and which has a "169.254" address.

Your Laptop "Client" has a Wireless Adapter with a "169.254" IP address, so it isn't connected properly to the "ICS" Host PC, which should have allocated a 192.168.0.x to it.

Your PC "Client" does seem to have correct details and should have network and internet connectivity, provided any firewall software has been configured correctly.

Firstly, you need to tell us which adapters in the "Host" PC have been bridged.

yes, Local Area Connection" and the "Wireless Network Connection" are used to connect to the two "Client" computers. how can i fix the laptop ip address anomaly?

<<< Local Area Connection" and the "Wireless Network Connection" are used to connect to the two "Client" computers >>>

Yes, but are these the adapters which form the *BRIDGE*, because you also seem to have a Wireless Adapter that isn't bridged? Do you actually have TWO wireless adapters installed in the PC?

<<< how can i fix the laptop ip address anomaly? >>>

I suspect that you don't actually have the two computers connected in an "Ad Hoc" wireless network, but the laptop needs to connect to the Wireless Adapter in the Host PC that is in the BRIDGE.

  jpgalea 23:58 16 Aug 06

yes the two connections are bridged. one is a wireless connection and the other is a normal wired one. therefore i have only one wireless adapter on the pc to connect to the laptop which has its own in built wireless functionality.

i still dont understand why the laptop is being assigned with that strange address. any help on that? thnx

<<< i still dont understand why the laptop is being assigned with that strange address. any help on that? >>>

This is because either it is connecting to the "Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 6", which is not part of the Network Bridge, or it isn't connecting to the "Ad Hoc" wireless network at all.

Are you able to take a screenshot of your Network Connections folder and upload it to a site such as ImageShack or Photobucket, so that we can see what the arrangement is?

you can view it at click here

now i am pinging each computer and every computer can also reach the modem and the address of the isp, however internet conection is still down on the two client computers

As I don't use ADSL (I have Cable broadband), I'm not certain which "adapter" is actually your *internet* connection - the "ADSL Modem" or "Maltanet ADSL". What happens if you disable ICS on the ADSL Modem (which actually has a LAN IP address in the 10.0.0.0 subnet) and enable it instead on the Maltanet ADSL connection?

Whatever else, your two "client" PCs must get IP addresses in the 192.168.0.0 subnet.
