Server Name or Address Could not be resolved

Hi,

I connect to my workplace via a VPN.

I am attempting to download the client software for our anti virus package to install on my business machine at home.

I can access the relevant server and the AV application but just after the download begins I receive the following message

"The server name or address could not be resolved"

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Evolution

Try putting the server name into your host file with the IP address it should resolve to.

Your hosts file can be found in:

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

(or similar)

You would want an entry which is similar to:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx servername

(where x is the IP address)

Sir R,

I had put the server name before the IP address in the hosts file!!

Makes all the difference to put it after as you suggest!!

All works fine now.

Greatly appreciated!

Thanks again.

Steve
