Sequencial renaming files in Word

  Paul2008 15:49 21 Jun 09

I have 100 photos in a directory that I want to renumber from 001-100.
When I try this in Explorer and start with 001 then the rest of the files are named 001(1) and goes on to 001 (100)
This means that I have to rename each file again which defeats the whole process.
Anyone know or got any ideas of how I can renukber multiple files?

Just to add to my previous link - assuming you want the first picture numbered add a number into the title - Picnic (001).jpg - otherwise it will start numbering from zero.

I use Bulk Rename for this type of job. Looks a bit daunting at first, but actually very flexible.

Found out what to do:
1. highlight the files.
2. right click the first file and relabel it "new name" then space and (1)
3. It will then relabel "new name" (1) and so on.
4. if you want it to start at e.g. 108 then next will be 109 etc etc.
Thanks for the mental prompts.
