sending messages to computers on LAN

Can anyone suggest how we might set up two computers on a home network so that you can send a message from one to pop up on the other monitor.

If both PCs have an internet connection, MSN Messenger would do it.

We have found 3 ways of doing this (all machines running under Win XP - not sure if it works under other OS):

1.As Lead suggests use MSN Messenger if you are both connected to the internet.

2.Using "Stickies" - a freeware program - probably similar to bremner's suggestion.

3.Using command prompt from Start menu - "Run"
"Command" then at the command prompt type:
net send "name of other computer" "your message"
(without the quotes).
The message will pop up on the second computer in a small window.

Hope that this helps.
