could someone suggest a simple programme that can change the name of the owner of the pc? running xp pro.

all i can think of is a reinstall. its an xp security feature.... You might be able to change it if you open the registry and search for the current owner - then just retype the registry key to the new owner.

Right-click My Computer and choose properties. Click the Computer Name tab and then the Change button.

that changes the name of the computer - not the name of the owner.

Usually the same thing isn't it? Is on mine.

what i need is a registry editor that will find and replace similarly to the one in word.

yes if you can find something like that. However if you do it manually by typing regedit in the command prompt or run box then you can browse the registry and search by going to edit tab at the top of the registry
