security warning on IE keeps coming up

  laptopdunce 14 Nov 12

If I am using IE all of a sudden for the past few days there has been a small rectangular window keeps popping up on every single site I visit, it says: "Security Warning" - do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? - then a section about parts of the webpage not being delivered by a secure https connection, there is a yes and a no button but this window keeps appearing on every single site I visit, my question is: why is this happening and how do I stop it? - Again it means I have to use google chrome because of this menace/pestering/interfering rubbish from IE, thanks LAPTOPDUNCE

Just to highlight the solution from Jock1e's link

Go to Tools->Internet Options->Security

Select the Security tab

Click on the Internet zone icon at the top of the tab page

Click the Custom Level button

In the Miscellaneous section change Display mixed content to Enable

Repeat steps 1 – 5 for the Local intranet and Trusted sites zones

Came out slightly wrong - here's how it should be:

Step 1 - Tools - Internet Options - Security

Step 6 - Repeat steps 1-5

Thanks for that, I will have to have a look at that when I get back at the end of the month, these things always seem to happen when I am just about to leave the computer and havent the time to fix it, will let you know how I get on, but why do these things just "happen" out of the blue like this? I wouldnt go into these settings and mess around with them so I know its not something I have created myself. thanks LAPTOPDUNCE

It happened to me following an update.

There were seven updates, some critical, last Tuesday.

Hi Seaurchin, just got back and done that procedure that you explained on November 14, and WOW WOW WOW, it works a treat! thanks alot!! do you think it is after installing updates that this has happened, as the poster of the later comments, "onthelimit" and "muergo" added? thanks LAPTOPDUNCE

do you think it is after installing updates that this has happened

Yes, it is very possible for that to happen, but you will probably never know for sure.

Glad it worked for you
