Security checks

I have used Symantec free security check and it reported 6 cases of open ports which are dangerous.
I then used the better known 'ShieldsUp' by GRC and it reported all ok, no open ports.
Is this possibly a case of Symantec trying to justify security upgrades which are not really necessary? or should I be questioning the validity of the 'ShieldsUp' report?

You have more chance of dining with the Queen than being hacked on a home computer. If you have Symantec then you will be well covered. Steve Gibson is Mr Paranoia, as is the rest of hos tawdry site.......for an alternative view od Barrow Boy Gibson go to click here
