Security alert while browsing

Earlier today I was looking at a web site for electrical equipment, and I had a security alert called an URL directory transversal. I have NIS which blocked it but when I went to the home page of this web site the same thing happened again. I tried to trace it with NIS, and it said it came from my own PC.

I ran a virus scan which was clear, and then used ad aware, which came up with a couple of items, but I am still not sure what this means. From what I can tell from looking on the internet, it has something to do with information stored on my computer, like bank account and credit card numbers, and something was trying to get at them.

Please can somebody enlighten me.
