Secure Website Problem

I seem to have developed a problem at home. I can't seem to connect to various internet sites- myebay within ebay, hotmail, yahoo email, abbey national bank stuff...

Firefox just attempts to load it for a while and then I eventually get the error message 'the page contains no data'.

I think that it is only on secure sites, which all of the above are. I have done nothing at all to my PC recently apart from a couple of antivirus updates.

Any clues as to what might have happened?

Go into Tools - Options - Advanced and scroll down to the Security settings. Check that SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are ticked.
