second hard drive problem

Hi everyone, I'm sure I've missed something but I can't get my second hard drive recognised in my computer. I've set up my new 60Gb Drive as slave to my original drive on the Primary IDE controller. The drive is recognised on boot up and by device manager but it isn't present in my computer and it hasn't been assigned a new drive letter. Add new hardware automatically picked it up and reports it as functioning normally.

I'm running XP Pro as the OS and have a DVD-rom and a CD rewriter on the secondary IDE controller.

Anyone know what I am missing, here or is there something wrong?
Thanks.
Rik

Rick39, I think you need to go to discmgmt in windows and activate the 2nd drive. Hope it helps.

Start > Run > Copy and Paste:

compmgmt.msc

Then click "OK".

On the left click "Disk Managment".

You should see your Disc there next to "Disk 1".

Right click "New Partition" follow all of what it says and it will be assinged a new letter and you will see the drive as normal like you see the C drive.
