Second Hand Laptop Can't Find Network

  Big Trev 12:29 25 Dec 07

I purchased a used laptop from someone on ebay and it is suppoded to be wireless ready. However, it seems not to be able to see my wireless network (centred on a BT Home Hub). The wireless link is switched on at the back of the laptop.
Device manager doesn't highlight anything as having a problem.

Running XP Professional.

Any idea what might be wrong, and how to cure it?

It has a SMC IrCC - Fast Infrared Port.

SMC IrCC - Fast Infrared Port.

I have a IBM T30 laptop that has a "wireles link" it too is infra red this is NOT the WiFi youneed to connect to a wireless router.

What make and model of laptop?

It is a Fujitsu Siemens S Series lifebook wireless p3 modem.

It is advertised as "10/100 LAN Card, USB, Operating System, WiFi Enabled, Modem".

Check the manual (if you have it) or download one from the Fuji site.

I belive that you can also turn wifi on/off in the Bios, so it might be worth checking.

Can it see anyone elses wifi network?
