SDRAM and DDR

My PC which is around two and a half years old has an AMD Athalon XP2000+ processor, and I was a little surprised to find that it had 512Mbytes 133M SDRAM rather than DDR memory. Could I swap it for 266M DDR memory, or do motherboards only work with one type of memory?

It will depend on the motherboard - some can take either. Certainly not in the same slots though.

Also most motherboards that can take both types, can't mix them - one or the other.
