Scrolling pages causes my PC to freeze - Help !

If I am browsing a page on the Internet, when scrolling down the page this often causes my PC to freeze, and a line of text appears partially "dissolved" - the only way I can describe it. I then have to re-boot to get the PC running again.
This happens particularly on the Microsoft Windows Update page when scrolling the list of available updates, and on other sites aswell.

PC is : ABIT KX7-333 motherboard, NVidia GeForce4 MX420 Graphics Card, AMD Athlon XP 2000 and 512Mb RAM with Windows 98 SE.
Anyone have any suggestions, or know of any reported conflicts with the above that could be causing this ??

Had same prob with nvidia tnt2 about 2 years ago.
Cured by using different drivers for graphics card, not always newest drivers, so you have to try some different ones out. Used versions 23.10 and 21.83.
