When I try to scroll up or down a web page or other document, the whole screen moves up or down in stages until it stops either at the top or bottom, depending on the direction of travel. This fault has suddenly started.
Before I could move the cursor on the side bar to move the display as much as I wanted to without any flicker as now occurs.
What can I do to reset my computer to the original scroll menu?
Have tried system restore but this hasn't solved the problem.
Have Windows XP 2Gb Ram and 1Gb flash drive

In Firefox - go to Tools>Options>Advanced check the boxes for Auro Scrolling and Smooth Scrolling.

In IE - Tools>Internet Options>Advanced check the box for smooth scrolling.

Oops - Auro = Auto ...

It could also be a faulty mouse.

If it's a wired mouse check the connections are firm; if battery powered, try new batteries.

In IE, you can also right click on the Scroll bar and choose several scrolling options from the menu.
