Screensaver problems

  craneman01 10:19 06 Jan 07

My screensaver will not work basically.!
Have set it on options to work & it will work fine if I hit the ctrl-shift-s buttons but it will not automatically kick in. I have disabled all security (firewall) systems to see if they are causing the problem but to no avail.
Any ideas guys?

Hi, personally I think screen-savers are not necessary these days with modern screens - though they do look nice. My pc is on 24/7 and I do not use a screen-saver.

PS - Your Security Firewall is very much more important !!!

Check in your MSCONFIG>Startup tab and see if you
have an entry for your CD or DVD software. If you do remove the check
along side it and reboot computer. See if that worked.

Have been in msconfig.exe & there is nothing checked for my CD or DVD software!

It turns out that the problem is the cordless mouse.
Sorry to be so long replying but had to go to work this afternoon & then was pouring over the possibilities raised by yourselves.
Moved the mouse off USB to PS2. left the keyboard which is cordless on USB & everything now functions.
Many thanks rawprawn & I hope your cocktails are far & few between !
