Hi does having high screen resolution use more graphics card power during game play because i am getting a new scrren for my pc soon with higher resolution than i currently do.

Yes, higher res=more pixels=more work for the graphics card.

Yes but you can run the screen at the resolution you already use, just because a display can support say 1600 x 1200 doesn't mean you have to run it at that. Also you could run it at 16 bit colours rather than 32 bit colours it also cuts down on the processing the card has to do and for most things you'll not notice the difference.
